Coaches
Dave Mitchell
Coach Dave Mitchell is the President and Co-Owner of Next Level Lacrosse. Dave is fortunate to have outstanding teachers, coaches, and role models who helped shape his life in a very positive way. Inspired by those relationships and by the transformational power of teaching and sports, Dave aspired to be a life-long coach at an early age.
Ryan Whyte
Coach Whyte is the Co-Head Coach for the 2028 Blue team. Coach Whyte was a three-sport standout in football, hockey, and lacrosse at St. John’s College High School. He was voted Varsity Hockey Captain his sophomore year and Varsity Football and Lacrosse captain as a senior. Coach received the Varsity Football Coaches Award his senior year. He was voted first-team All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference for football as a senior and second-team as a junior. He also earned second-team all-league honors in lacrosse his senior year. Coach Whyte then went on to play football at Georgetown University. He joined the Georgetown club lacrosse team at the end of his Sophomore year and was President of the club lacrosse program as a Senior. Coach Whyte was the Head JV Lacrosse Coach for St. John’s for one year and has been a Next Level Head Coach and Assistant Coach for eight years.
Matt Howell
Coach Howell was a two-sport athlete in football and lacrosse at Walt Whitman High School. In lacrosse, he was a four-year varsity player and three-year starter. He was named team captain his senior year, and during that year was named to the first-team all-division, first-team all-county, and led the state of Maryland in ground balls. He opted not to play college lacrosse and attended the University of South Carolina. Coach Howell started coaching for Next Level when he was a freshman in high school and has been coaching lacrosse for Next Level for ten years. He is currently a Realtor with Coakley Realty and actively flips houses in the DMV & Bethany Beach. In 2022, Coach Howell became the Assistant Coach at Whitman High School for the Girl’s Varsity team.
